Question 1

How can I give money?

Accepted Answer

Three ways: an M-Pesa STK push to your phone, a manual M-Pesa payment to our Buy Goods till followed by entering your transaction code, or a debit or credit card through Pesapal's secure checkout.

Question 2

Is my card information safe?

Accepted Answer

Card payments are completed on Pesapal's secure checkout page. ChamaCore never sees or stores your card number.

Question 3

My M-Pesa prompt did not appear. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Check that the number is an active M-Pesa line and try again after a minute. If it still does not arrive, pay to our till manually and enter the transaction code.

Question 4

I paid to the till but my code is pending.

Accepted Answer

We match your code against Safaricom's confirmation, which can take a minute. If it is still pending after a while, contact us with the code and we will verify it manually.

Question 5

Can I give from outside Kenya?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Use the card option, which supports KES, USD, EUR and GBP.

Question 6

What equipment can I donate?

Accepted Answer

Computers, accessories, phones, networking, displays, power equipment, components, robotics kits, assistive technology and audio gear, plus software, services and expertise. We highlight what is currently needed.

Question 7

Does the equipment have to be new?

Accepted Answer

No. New, used and repairable items are welcome, although we may decline items we cannot safely reuse.

Question 8

What happens to the data on my device?

Accepted Answer

We wipe devices before reuse. We still recommend backing up your files, signing out of accounts and removing SIM and memory cards before you hand a device over.

Question 9

How do I get the equipment to you?

Accepted Answer

Choose drop-off, pickup (where possible within Kenya) or courier. Please wait until we confirm your donation is accepted before sending anything.

Question 10

Can I donate a service or my time?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Software licences, cloud or messaging credits, mentoring, workshops and professional advice are all welcome.

Question 11

What if an item cannot be reused?

Accepted Answer

Equipment that cannot be repaired or safely reused is handled through responsible e-waste channels.

Question 12

Will I get a receipt?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You get an acknowledgement by SMS or email with a PDF receipt and a link to verify it. In-kind donors receive an acknowledgement of receipt.

Question 13

Are donations tax deductible?

Accepted Answer

ChamaCore Technologies is a technology company, not a registered charity. Our receipts are acknowledgements, not tax-exemption certificates. Please speak to your tax adviser if this matters to you.

Question 14

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Gifts are voluntary and generally non-refundable. If you paid the wrong amount or made a mistake, contact us within 7 days with your receipt.

Question 15

How is my information used?

Accepted Answer

To process your gift, send your receipt and run the programme. We never sell personal data. You can give anonymously and we handle data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
