M-Pesa for groups

M-Pesa payments for chamas, SACCOs and welfare groups

Stop collecting group money on a treasurer phone. ChamaCore connects your own Safaricom Daraja credentials, so members pay by M-Pesa and every payment lands in the right member account with a receipt.

The problems we solve

Matching statements by hand

Comparing an M-Pesa statement with a member list takes days. Payments are matched to member accounts as they arrive.

Group money mixed with personal money

When contributions go to one phone, trust suffers. Collections go to your organisation Paybill or Till and are recorded against each member.

Slow payouts for loans and claims

Paying each person manually is slow and error-prone. B2C payouts send loans, withdrawals and claims to member phones with a record of each payment.

No proof of payment

Members ask for receipts. Every payment gets a receipt and appears in the member statement.

What you get

STK Push

Members approve a prompt on their phone and the contribution or repayment is recorded instantly.

Paybill and Till (C2B)

Payments made to your Paybill or Till are matched to member accounts.

B2C payouts

Pay approved loans, withdrawals and claims to member M-Pesa numbers.

Reconciliation

Payments are reconciled against your records so gaps are easier to spot.

Your own credentials

You connect your own Safaricom Daraja credentials during setup. Integration secrets are stored encrypted.

Receipts and alerts

Receipts and reminders by SMS, email and WhatsApp where configured.

How it works

1

Register your organisation

Choose your service and plan, then add your administrators.

2

Connect Safaricom

Add your Daraja Paybill or Till credentials in Settings. Safaricom sets its own onboarding requirements and charges.

3

Collect and pay out

Members pay by M-Pesa and approved payouts go to their phones, all recorded in the ledger.

Frequently asked questions

Which M-Pesa channels does ChamaCore support?+

STK Push, C2B collections through a Paybill or Till, and B2C payouts, all through Safaricom Daraja. Plans differ in which channels they include, so check the pricing page.

Do we need our own Paybill or Till?+

You connect your own Safaricom credentials during setup, so collections go to your organisation and not to ChamaCore. Safaricom decides its own onboarding requirements.

Can we pay loans and claims out through M-Pesa?+

Yes, with B2C payouts, where your plan and Safaricom setup include them. Payouts can require approval before they are sent.

Does ChamaCore charge for M-Pesa transactions?+

ChamaCore plans are priced per month and billed annually. Safaricom charges its own transaction fees separately.

Is ChamaCore a regulated financial institution?+

ChamaCore is software, not a bank, SACCO or regulator. Your organisation stays responsible for its own licensing, regulatory filings and record accuracy.
